Privacy Policy
1. Your baby's data stays on your phone
Everything you log about your baby — name, date of birth, breastfeeding sides and durations, bottles, pumping, diapers, sleep, weight and length, and notes — is stored only on this phone, in the app's private storage. Nurslog has no AI features, no account and no server of ours that receives this data. The database is excluded from Android cloud backup; it only leaves the phone in a backup file that you export and share yourself (exports are encrypted by default).
Partner sync (optional, Pro). If you pair a second phone (for example your partner's), the two phones exchange your log directly over your home Wi-Fi network. Pairing uses a QR code (or a 12-character code) that carries the encryption key; the data is end-to-end encrypted between the paired phones and never passes through a cloud service or a server we run, so we cannot read it. Unpair at any time in Settings.
App lock. You can protect the app with your phone's fingerprint, face or screen lock. Biometric checks are done by Android; Nurslog never receives your fingerprint or face data. While the lock is on, the app's screens are hidden from screenshots and the recent-apps preview.
Ads, analytics and crash reports (sections 3 and 4) never contain your baby's data. Nurslog is a log, not medical advice.
2. Permissions
- Notifications (Android 13+) — asked the first time you start a timer, so the running timer can stay on your lock screen with Switch / Stop buttons, and for the optional feed reminder. You can say no; the app still works.
- Camera — asked only when you tap “Scan QR” to pair a partner's phone. It is used only to read that QR code, on the device; no photo or video is saved or sent. You can type the 12-character code instead.
- Biometric (no prompt) — only if you turn on App lock.
- Internet, network and Wi-Fi state, Wi-Fi multicast (no prompt) — ads, analytics, purchases and consent, and finding the paired phone on your home Wi-Fi for Partner sync.
- Run at startup, vibration (no prompt) — restore your reminder after a restart; haptic feedback.
Nurslog does not use your location, contacts, microphone, photos or files, and does not connect to Health Connect.
3. Analytics and crash reports (Google Firebase)
With your consent where required, we use Google Analytics for Firebase and Firebase Crashlytics to understand how the app is used and to fix crashes. We log anonymous events such as “paywall viewed” or “purchase completed”, plus device model, OS and app version, approximate region and an app-instance identifier. We never log your content; the app enforces this with an allow-list of event parameters. Crash reports contain the error type and stack trace only. Firebase Remote Config is used to tune paywall and ad settings.
4. Advertising (Google AdMob, Unity Ads, Meta Audience Network)
The free version shows ads: one slim banner on a list screen, an occasional full-screen ad after you save something, and optional rewarded ads you choose to watch to unlock a Pro tool for a while. Ads never cover a live tool, onboarding or the paywall, and never appear in the first two minutes of first use. Nurslog Pro removes all ads.
Ads are served by Google AdMob, with Unity Ads and Meta Audience Network competing through AdMob mediation. These partners may collect the advertising ID, device and usage information and approximate location derived from your IP address to serve and measure ads. See Google's Unity's and Meta's privacy policies. Ads are never personalised with your baby's data, which these partners never receive.
5. Your choices (GDPR, UK GDPR, Swiss FADP, US state laws)
In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, Nurslog asks for your consent through Google's consent message (IAB TCF) before personalised ads or analytics are used. If you decline, ads are non-personalised and analytics stays off. In US states with privacy laws (such as California, Virginia, Colorado), you can opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information and targeted advertising. You can change your choice at any time in Settings → Privacy choices.
Legal bases (GDPR): consent for analytics and personalised ads; performance of a contract for the features you use and for purchases; legitimate interest for crash diagnostics where consent is not required. You may request access, deletion, correction or portability of data we control, object to processing, or lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority. California residents (CCPA/CPRA): we do not sell personal information for money; ad partners may receive identifiers as described above, which you can opt out of in Privacy choices. We do not discriminate against users who exercise their rights.
6. Purchases
Subscriptions and the lifetime purchase are processed by Google Play. We never receive your payment details; Google tells the app whether Pro is active.
7. Retention and deletion
Your baby's log remains on your device (and on a phone you paired) until you delete it. To delete everything at once, use Settings → Delete all data in the app (this erases the log and settings and unpairs Partner sync), or uninstall the app. On a paired phone, do the same on that phone. Analytics data is retained by Google for up to 14 months. See how to delete your data.
8. Children
Nurslog is a tool for parents and caregivers aged 18 and over. It is not directed to children and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Information about your baby that you enter stays on your device as described in section 1.
